Parting The Waves Still 5869 Web
Parting the Waves (2017) by Semiconductor

Two works by our Art Science collaborators Semiconductor are being exhibited at Stirling Science Festival 2021 – Black Rain (2009) and Parting of the Waves (2017). These installation works are on display at the Toolbooth in Stirling from Tuesday 5th – Thursday 28th October. Black Rain uses images collected by the twin satellite, solar mission, STEREO where the HI (Heliospheric Imager) visual data is displayed as it tracks interplanetary space for solar wind and CME’s (coronal mass ejections) heading towards Earth. Parting the Waves was a response to a residency Semiconductor spent partly with the Computational Nonlinear and Quantum Optics Group at Strathclyde University. It takes the visual language and method of quantum simulations, as a framework for exploring how science describes and attempts to harness the quantum realm.
